A friend once shared an illustration on perspective. I think about it often, as it seems I’m constantly needing a check-up from the neck-up in this area.
Imagine yourself standing atop your kitchen countertop. Envision the issues of life which are dragging you down below. Fix your mind on how small your problems are in relation to how tall you are standing above them.
Feel a new perspective?
Another image I like to ponder is this: Whatever is over our heads is under Jesus’ feet.
I know for me, many of my stress issues stem from a loss of control which in turn causes a feeling of overwhelm. We are not meant to live here. Sometimes, just stepping away from the situation or take long, deep breaths, listen to your breath (a yoga technique!) or picturing one, or both, images above can certainly help. I constantly have to remind myself that I am not in control. This is much more difficult to assimilate. Whether kids or marriage, job or friendship drama, work or family, car or home repairs, illness or health issue…no matter what it is, it is all under God’s control and therefore, under His feet.
Today, let’s help each other strive for a change of perspective. It’s a process and sometimes, a daily dying to self. We can do it. Together. One step at a time. Life is too short to feel overwhelmed. Let’s ask God to give us the ability to change our perspective so that we can be the best we can be.
